As some of you may know in Kathmandu we don't have the greatest electricity. Sometimes when we really need it—like during ADC or for a big Puja—we run generators to produce reliable electricity to run our many lights and equipment. These machines are quite messy
and noisy and we don't really like them that much because they pollute our environment. We are working on some ways to reduce the need of such machines in the future. In the meantime when we still need to use the generators, we have two of our nuns taking care of the machines every day. Most of the time they are checking oil, water and fuel and making sure the machines are kept clean and working well. Every 250 hours they have to do service because the fuel in Kathmandu is very poor and it means the machines performance and reliability quickly degrades if we do not do regular maintenance work.
