A Message from DGK Office
January 18, 2008

After we put up our need for a scanner on the web, many people emailed us to offer scanner. The good news is that His Holiness has given us his scanner. But now what is really needed urgently is a fax machine for us to receive and send faxes. Even though fax is very seldom used, many people, such as local suppliers, are still sending us faxes. So, we have to go down to the shop near Swayambhunath Stupa to receive faxes, which is not very convenient.

As the electricity supply is very insufficient, a generator is also very urgently needed, especially during a public gathering, such as the forthcoming birthday celebration of His Holiness. We are now using a very small generator which does not work sometimes and the capacity is not sufficient to cater for over 200 of us living on Druk Amitabha Mountain. With the clinic and more nuns coming to live with us, we will need at least two more generators within this year. One generator that is sufficient for our current capacity now costs around NR3,200,000 or USD53,000, which is quite a large sum. We apologize that we are always asking for help.

We really hope that in the future, you all can help us develop income-generating activities that will make us financially independent, so that we don't have to continue to request to His Holiness and his followers for donations and help.

With this message, we would like to share our moments of practice and activities with you. We have been receiving a lot of kind remarks and messages, so many that we sometimes miss to reply to you. In case you did not receive any reply from us, kindly accept our apologies.
